You can work at your own pace and benefit from the diverse experience and skills of other group members. We have the equipment for you to learn measuring, cutting, planing, sawing, routering and surface finishing on beautiful timber to produce something special.

Toy Making

We’re always looking for new members and volunteers, of all skill levels, to help us meet our goal of making 1,000 wooden toys each year for charities and children in hospitals. You might prefer to make toys from start to end, or focus on a task like sanding or painting. We’re happy for you to do this in our workshop during scheduled sessions, or in your own home at your leisure.

Toy group meeting times:
8:00am – 12:00pm Tuesday
8:00am – 3:00pm 1st and 3rd Friday

Carving

Our Wood Carving Group welcomes beginners and experienced carvers alike to come together and explore the timeless beauty of carving. We’re a small group of artisans and learners within WSQ, who love to carve a variety of projects. Simple spoons are always a useful item to produce; therapeutic birds are a wonderful ornament and Welsh love spoons are an interesting talking point. Whether you’ve never held a chisel or you’re an experienced whittler, we welcome all newcomers to join this meditative and stress-relieving hobby.
Starter tools are available for beginners and seasoned carvers are welcome to bring their own kits. Safety tips and guidance are provided in every session.
Whether you're looking to try something new or refine your skills, the carving group is a wonderful place to carve out time for yourself.

Carving Group meeting times:
8:00am - 11:30am Second and fourth Friday mornings
